Acer, the electronics giant has really big plans for the year 2010. Acer is generally known as a maker of laptops and net books. It is also a very reputed maker of mobile phones. Acer has plans to make around 10 Windows Mobile and Android Phones for 2010, according to inside sources. It has also been known that Acer will preferentially make more Android phones than the ones which run on Windows Mobile. Although Windows Mobile has been the leaders in providing platform for smartphones, but Android, the new kid on the block, Google’s brainchild, is fast cashing in on the business of Smartphones. Although both operating systems will be used in Acer Smartphones which will be coming out in 2010, Acer will produce more Android phones than the ones which run on Windows Mobile. In addition there will be Android devices which will be powered by ST-Ericsson PNX6719 3G which is a chipset solution. This is a very promising offer keeping in mind the amazing potential that Android 2.0 platform is capable of offering and the amazing features it come equipped with. There will be around three entry level phones based on the Android platform designed and produced by Acer in 2010. They will also engage in extensive smartphone outsourcing powered by FIH and Inventec Applications. Other simpler smartphones will also be designed using only the Brew Mobile Platform which is known as BMP, and also from Qualcomm will come Snapdragon. Sources say that these smartphones are being designed to compete with HTC who are the undisputed rulers of the smartphone market.
