White iPhone 4 Fans May Face 2011 Wait

The Apple iPhone 4 was the biggest smartphone launch of 2010 but many people have patiently waited for the handset to be released in, well, a colour that isn’t black. But if you’ve been twiddling your thumbs in expectation of the new white iPhone 4, keep on twiddling. According to reports from Orange, the shining white model isn’t expected to hit stores in the UK until Christmas at the earliest, with 2011 a more realistic timeframe.

Orange UK have been sending out emails to customers that are waiting for the white iPhone 4, saying:

“We wanted to let you know that there won’t be any white iPhone 4′s in the UK until the end of the year. If you’re happy to wait another few months we’ll let you know as soon as they’re back in stock.

Alternatively, if you want it now, visit your local Orange shop to get the iPhone 4 Black 16GB or 32GB today.”

Next year is far too long for some iPhone 4 fans though; there has been a surge to certain websites that allow you to buy white iPhone 4 parts complete with the Apple stamp with some customers reporting that the whole conversion operation takes as little as 20 minutes to complete.

Smart retailers in China are already starting to sell DIY kits that allow owners of black iPhones to convert their handsets at a cost.
