Firefox 4 has arrived for Android users
For any of you out there that haven’t jumped on the iPhone bandwagon and either still have a naff old handset or have the other decent alternative to the iPhone, an Android phone then there’s a spot of good news coming your way, Firefox 4 is available now for Android operated handsets.
This is set to be a rather big thing for Android users, with a lot of people complaining about the quality of the browser that comes as standard on the Android phones people saying that it isn’t sufficient enough, and even after some users, like HTC Hero owners got the latest 2.1 update they still aren’t happy with the updated browser on the latest software. There are of course browsing alternatives available from the Android app market things like ‘Dolphin Browser’ and a few other alternatives, all of which aren’t anything special.
Mozilla’s Stuart Parmenter has just recently blogged: “Our first Firefox 4 beta for mobile is now available to download and test, it’s built on the same technology platform as Firefox for the desktop and optimized for browsing on a mobile phone. Firefox beta for mobile comes with many of your favourite Firefox desktop features like Firefox Sync, Add-ons and the Awesome Bar. A major focus of this release is to increase performance and responsiveness.
So with all that out of the way, why not get looking for the new Firefox 4 beta to spruce up your lowly, Android handset and give it a new lease of life. Go on, treat yourself and see what the difference is, oh yeah we forgot to mention that it still has pinch-zoom capabilities for those of you that are slightly short sighted. So now you have no excuses…
