Apple: “We’ve sorted iPhone 4 signal issues”

Apple have finally nailed down the problem being reported by many of their customers, that the phone is displaying more signal bars than there actually is. They have blamed a display error for the signal fault which has somewhat tainted the release of the latest model of their groundbreaking smartphone, the new iPhone 4.

A fix, as expected, will not actually improve reception but rather just show the correct signal strength for the area you are in. Apple have announced that the fix is for ALL iPhones which may lend a hand to explaining some of the long standing problems that people have noticed since the release of the first version of the handset way back in 2007.

“Upon investigation, we were stunned to find that the formula we use to calculate how many bars of signal strength to display is totally wrong,” said Apple.

“Our formula, in many instances, mistakenly displays 2 more bars than it should for a given signal strength,” it continues.

“For example, we sometimes display 4 bars when we should be displaying as few as 2 bars.”

Finally one more thing from Apple: “We are also making bars 1, 2 and 3 a bit taller so they will be easier to see.” Problem solved then…
