We all know that for the last few years Apple have had a little bit of a routine when it comes to announcing details about the next instalment of iPhone. It tends to be around June/July time when they announce the eagerly anticipated info, however this year all we got was an announcement about the next iOS. Well as you can imagine a lot of people weren’t happy about this, none more so than Samsung!

Yes that’s right, Samsung! Who’d have thought that Samsung would be bothered by what their rivals are producing? Well it seems that Samsung are quite bothered. Apple have said that their rivals, Samsung have been harassing them into releasing details about their secret plans for the next iPhone and the iPad 3.

In all fairness, there is a lawsuit that is currently going on to try and determine whether Samsung’s Galaxy range has been influenced by Apple’s iPhone range and a judge has forced the Korean tech giants to show their upcoming range of handsets and in retaliation the Korean giants have demanded that Apple show their plans for future devices, however Apple are now calling it harassment.

Make of this what you will but we could soon be treated to a bit of info about the new iPhone! Fingers crossed guys!

Samsung’s flagship LED 9000 series TV is incredibly just 0.34cm this, which is about as wide as a pencil. But there’s more to this stunning piece of tech than meets the eye…

Possibly our favourite feature is the total web compliance it possesses with Samsung’s own content portal, Internet@TV. This means you access your media across your entire home network, pulling images, music and video from PCs and NAS devices (there’s support for JPEG, MP3, DivX, MKV and AVI extensions), you can also browse YouTube, log in on Facebook and stream movies from LoveFilm. Samsung’s own App store offers a range of simplistic games and more choices are promised for later this year.

Housed in a sleek, brushed metal frame and boasting the ability to convert 2D content to 3D in real time, the set uses edge-mounted LED backlighting so black levels are deep and consistent, and colour fidelity is always high.

Picture clarity from the Freeview HD tuner are terrific and, of course, are even sharper with Blu-ray.

The accompanying touch-screen 9000 remote can display live TV feeds while your main panel shows a Blu-ray. In addition, when you move near the TV, it automatically opens up the button control panel for you.

RRP is up in the air at the moment but clearly, the UE55C9000 is not a screen you’ll be in for if you’re on a budget…

Tech fans have had plenty to enjoy this week. Apple founder Steve Jobs took the stage for two hours at the All Things Digital conference, sharing details about the company’s history and future plans. Samsung’s new smartphone came out, giving high-end technology fans a new handset to salivate over.

We’ve covered this week’s four biggest events below. From strange lawsuits to shiny new devices, here’s this week in technology.

Steve Jobs: “We have no plans to go into the search business”

Outspoken Apple Inc. CEO Steve Jobs made it clear that despite the company’s ongoing mobile war with Google, he had no intentions of competing on the search front. Apple currently uses Google as the default search engine in their Safari web browser and iPhone search box, giving the Mountain View search company millions of dollars in advertising revenue by default.

Apple stirred up discussion last year after documents related to a potential partnership with Microsoft’s Bing became public. Jobs has also dismissed the partnership rumours, aiming to make it clear that Apple will compete on hardware, not in the online software market.

Skype for iPhone 3GS: 5 Million Downloads in 5 Days

Skype launched their new Skype Web Telephony application on May 30th – replacing their standard wifi-only application in the process. The new application allows users to make Skype calls wherever there’s a 3G mobile broadband signal, cutting out the need for a wireless internet provider.

The app is certainly proving popular. In the five days since its launch, the iPhone application has been downloaded by over five million users, making it one of the most popular communications apps on the iPhone.

Google is Being Sued

Well, we can’t say we’re surprised. Google has grown immensely over the past decade, quickly becoming one of the internet’s most popular properties and one of the tech industry’s most influential companies. A personal injury lawsuit, in many ways, seems long overdue.

Utah resident Lauren Rosenberg is suing Google, claiming that their Google Maps direction function lead her onto a crowded highway and caused her to be hit by a car. Google have yet to publicly respond to the lawsuit, but we can’t see it going too far; Google Maps includes a brief warning, urging users to stay careful when using automatic directions.

Samsung’s New Galaxy S Smartphone Launches

Samsung’s acclaimed new Galaxy S phone has been released throughout Europe. The high-tech handset is designed to compete with similar models from Apple and HTC. With Android 2.1 as standard, a 1GHz processor, and HD video recording and playback, this handset could very well become the king of mobile phones.

Unfortunately, pricing isn’t quite as kind as we’d have liked. The Galaxy S is available at a retail price of €649, making it a device that only serious mobile phone fans can afford. Carrier options are varied and relatively open, however, giving those with enough spare cash plenty of control over their data usage and calling costs.

If you take into consideration the fact that Samsung has been trying really hard for the past couple of years to become popular in the amateur camera market, then you have to applaud their latest release- NX10 which is the closest they have got so far to perfection in this particular field. Their previous cameras we cannot exactly just shrug off as very bad efforts but it was just that somehow they never really measured up to the class of their other Japanese counterparts.

The trick is that Samsung has found its niche as far as manufacturing the right kind of cameras are concerned, it is not exactly a DSLR or is it a Micro Four Thirds, actually it is a Hybrid and this is where it might excel in. So what exactly are the features of this camera that is going to get it to sell? Well, it has already made some big claims about the three inch OLED screen that the camera carries and this is almost something that you would expect out of a company that majorly sells televisions and mobile phones. This screen is claimed by the company that it also offers a wide range of angles for viewing and the contrast that can be adjusted on this rear viewing screen is also supposed to be much better than what is offered by most other companies.

Also, the resolution is something that Samsung has given its contenders to deal with- quite a high 14.6 MP. The size of this camera on the other hand is pretty up there too, it looks and feels almost like any standard DSLR camera does which is a very good thing for the company! Apart from all that, the camera is also pretty decently priced and its price more or competes with the others such as the Panasonic Pen family or the other Panasonic GF1 as well, even the new entry level DSLR cameras are also competing with this Samsung model which is actually quite a good position for Samsung’s camera to begin with.

One thing about the camera is that the camera is very easy to handle and very simple to use but the unfortunate thing about the camera is that it is not as well thought out and planned as the other DSLR cameras by Nikon or even Cannon which is rather a let down, however one wonders if the other easy to use features of the camera will be able to make this up.

It is definitely safe to say now that the touch screen millennium has arrived, at least by the looks of the way Samsung is manufacturing its handsets it looks like the touch screen models will never stop, and the most recent addition to the kitty is the Samsung Monte. Going just by the looks of the phone, this is definitely one of the most attractive ones that the company has churned out yet, it definitely looks the part of a high end fashion touch screen phone, but if you’re wondering whether it is also going to do all that it is being paid to do then it needs to also be examined more closely before the judgment is passed.

The screen of the phone is 3inches which is quite good enough considering that it runs on the TouchWiz interface that Samsung is so proud of, therefore as you can expect the phone gives more emphasis on its widgets and their use. The widgets that are already preloaded into this phone includes the popular ones such as YouTube and there is also one for BBC iPlayer as well, and of course the important shortcuts that you will need to reach the functions etc of the phone are also loaded.

You might also like the keyboard on the touch screen that you will get to use. The touch is pretty soft as you will find and there is also a heptic feedback present when you use certain keys, which means that you will feel a slight bit of a vibration when you touch these particular keys which is a good indicator that the job is done when you press the keys. The other thing that everyone is pleasantly surprised with is the camera that the phone uses; it is a 3.2 MP one and you would expect less especially since the camera comes without a flash, but the test photos actually turned out pretty good and you can even use the other camera that is present on the front of the phone which is mainly used for video calling and the likes, but this one works equally well too.

However on the downside there are some features that are not exactly attractive, for instance there have been complaints made about the constant crashing of the browser when you are using the internet, if you go online through your mobile a lot, this is one thing that you need to rethink before you purchase this phone. There is also the problem of the phone running on a software that is pretty slow. So basically depending on your kind of use and what you are comfortable with, you should decide to buy or not buy the phone.
