There are of course many reasons why Vodafone happens to be one of the top service providers in the UK at the moment, but the following news will definitely not be one of them- the rates that they applied to data services users for their mobile phones and laptops inside the country as well as used on romaing, which is while they travelled abroad has been revised actually and increased. Of course, Vodafone customers now are not exactly left with a smiling face but such is life.

The rates that are going to be applicable for data services used within the country is going to be charged at one pound for every megabyte which is going to be charged for the first 5MB and then a rate of five pounds is going to be applicable for every 5MB that is used after that. So if you are worrying about this increase in rates, you can imagine what those customers are feeling who cannot move an inch without these data services on their mobile phone or laptop, for them the rates are going to increase by five times!

However, the bad news doesn’t end here- the rates that have been discussed above are the rates that the company is going to charge you if you are using the data services through your mobile phone, if you are going to use these services through an USB port or a Dongle of some kind for using it on your laptop, these charges are going to be as follows. In this case, the rates are going to be ten pounds for the first 50MB that you use and ten pounds extra for every 50MB that you end up using over and above the first.

The unfortunate part is that these rates are even higher for those who are going to use the company’s data services for when they travel abroad. The rates are three pounds for every Mb for the first 5MB and then fifteen pounds for every 5Mb used after that, and those are the rates for those users using the services through their mobile phones. These rates are different again for those using their laptops.

The fact is that these rates will definitely be favoring those people who do not use the data services that often but the high level users are the ones who are going to actually face this price hike, whether they are going to use these services abroad or inside the country itself. According to the company, this hike is supposed to affect only a minority and a very small one at that, but one wonders about that claim too.
