Cool Apps for Editing Videos on an iPhone

How do you record your videos? Do you use a video camera, then transfer the video into your computer, then edit it and then upload it onto a video sharing site? If it took so much out of me writing such a long sentence describing it, I’m sure it must be pretty hard to actually do all that in real.  You see, video cameras are not obsolete as yet, but carrying them each and everywhere is just , well, stupid. But what if the one thing you carry each and everywhere could help you shoot videos, edit them and upload them right away? That is why the Mobile Phone companies have started giving the video quality of cell phones huge importance. The iPhone 5s has a 8 MP camera with 1080p video recording and it really does rock! The better the phone’s video quality becomes more and more redundant the video cameras will be. But sure you can record videos; you can also upload them right away. But there’s one grey area still left, i.e. the editing of the videos.

If you have a decent video editing app in your iPhone it will help you eliminate your computer and you can upload edited videos straightaway from your iPhone. There are plenty of apps that fulfill specific roles, like just adding music or making video slideshows out of the photos you already have, but really there’s very little choice when it comes to comprehensive video apps that let you edit video, add in and delete clips, make transitions, add filters AND share to your social networks all in one package. Thus to help you in that matter we have decided to make a list of some cool Apps to edit iPhone videos

Magisto

Magisto

Magisto is one app for the lazy buffs out there. The easiest way to describe Magisto is calling it an “automatic video editor.”You see, initially, I was quite sceptic about the credibility of an app that promised a perfectly video editing in a click, without any hassle whatsoever. But it is good. In fact , its really really good. All you need to do is choose a video from your iPhone that you wish to edit. Once you’ve selected your clips, you’re presented with a variety of music to choose from as a soundtrack. Then you are prompted to enter a title for you video. Magisto uploads the video to its server and edits the video . While you can choose what source material goes in to your final product, ultimately it’s up to the Almighty Algorithm to decide what makes the final cut. Thus the better the source quality the better the final product will be. The only problem in this app is the lack of control given to the user; and the only control you have is to choose the video clip and the soundtrack. Still the results are quite amazing.

iSupr8

iSupr8

Want your video to have a rusty retro feel? Then iSupr8 is just the app for you. Comin g in from the house of MEA Mobile, priced at $1.99 this app surely justifies its price tag because of its authenticity.  With its tagline “Digital Photography Never Looked So Analog,” it brings rich, retro and atmospheric effects to millions of people’s everyday observations of life. The authenticity of the end result is due to the absence of filters or cheap overlays in the colouring process, a developer’s claim which appears supported by the slightly lengthy time it takes to encode the original video. The main dashboard has the faux camera feel like Hipstamatic which is kind of quirky and authentic. If you want to stand out with a quirky yet classy video, just go for this app.

Cinema FX for video

Cinema-FX

Everyone wants to have an edited feel to their videos. But not many have the time to learn all the complex features found in most of the apps around. If you’re one of them, Cinema FX is just the app for you. It’s a fairly comprehensive video editing app when it comes to adding filters, but unfortunately doesn’t let you tweak the actual structure of the video itself. There are no audio options either, and the video rendering is pretty time consuming too. But since its pretty much a basic app we can’t complain much. The CinemaFX for Video is developed by by Nexvio Inc. and is priced at $1.99

iMovie

imovie-iphone

One of the most famous video editing softwares out there, iMovie is now part of the Apple’s iLife suite for iPhone and iPad. Editing movies is really pretty simple in iMovie. You can preview clips by simply dragging your finger across them. You can then trim the edges before adding them to your project. Adding music to your videos is a bit of a hassle as you cannot add more than one song to your movie unless your movie is long enough to play an entire song. You can then have a new song start after the first one is finished, but you cannot control the length of the clip nor choose when you want the song to start. The newest and by far the coolest feature added to the iMovie is the ability to make trailers — credits and all! You need to choose one between 9 different themes: Bollywood, Expedition, Fairy Tale, Narrative, Retro, Romance, Scary, Superhero, and Swashbuckler. A few tweaks here and there and you have your own movie trailer. Cool! Right? All these cool features and the reasonable pricing of $4.99 make iMovie the one app that you must have in your app collection.

Vizzywig

Vizzywig

If advanced features are your forte, then Vizzywig is what you are looking for.  It is a beautifully designed easy to use video editor that can be used easily by beginners and professionals. The editing features are plenty such as,adding different filters to changing background, adding songs manual controls for exposure, focus, and white balance and whatnot. Priced at a whopping $29.99 it will only be worth its cost if you’re already familiar with the basic techniques of video editing.  Even if you don’t it takes quite a while to get used to all the features and understanding them. Thus, only buy it if you wish to edit videos professionally and/or are a perfectionist.
