The Outstanding, Wafer-Thin Samsung UE55C9000

Samsung’s flagship LED 9000 series TV is incredibly just 0.34cm this, which is about as wide as a pencil. But there’s more to this stunning piece of tech than meets the eye…

Possibly our favourite feature is the total web compliance it possesses with Samsung’s own content portal, Internet@TV. This means you access your media across your entire home network, pulling images, music and video from PCs and NAS devices (there’s support for JPEG, MP3, DivX, MKV and AVI extensions), you can also browse YouTube, log in on Facebook and stream movies from LoveFilm. Samsung’s own App store offers a range of simplistic games and more choices are promised for later this year.Samsung ue55c9000

Housed in a sleek, brushed metal frame and boasting the ability to convert 2D content to 3D in real time, the set uses edge-mounted LED backlighting so black levels are deep and consistent, and colour fidelity is always high.

Picture clarity from the Freeview HD tuner are terrific and, of course, are even sharper with Blu-ray.

The accompanying touch-screen 9000 remote can display live TV feeds while your main panel shows a Blu-ray. In addition, when you move near the TV, it automatically opens up the button control panel for you.

RRP is up in the air at the moment but clearly, the UE55C9000 is not a screen you’ll be in for  if you’re on a budget…
