New venture for mobile companies

T-mobile and 3 Mobile, both are big telecommunication companies based in UK. They have decided to join hands with Orange, a France based Telecommunication Company, to venture into a new field.  They have come together to form a third generation mobile broadband network sharing agreement, called Mobile-Broadband Network Limited or MBNL. MBNL was formed by T-mobile and 3 Mobile towards the end of 2007. This new partnership is going to be announced officially on 3rd September.

Orange is going to contribute thousands of Radio base stations. All three networks are going to contribute their resources to the project to reduce the overall cost and provide better service to the customers in UK.

3 Mobile is going to retain the 50 per cent partnership in MBNL, while the remaining 50 per cent of the share will be shared jointly by Orange and T-Mobile network. Both these companies are a subsidiary company to Everything Everywhere Limited. They came together in July and became the largest telecommunications company in UK. They together have more than 30 million loyal customers. Everything Everywhere Limited is jointly owned by France Telecom and Deutsche Telekom. The details of the partnership are included in TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database.

This partnership would allow them to form best third-generation network in UK. The pooling of resources would cut costs tremendously and spread the mobile broadband signal everywhere in UK. This would boost the speed and increase connectivity range and therefore would attract a huge customer base. According to a survey, Mobile-Broadband Network Limited has an infrastructure which is spread over 90 per cent of the country. By the end of 2010, the infrastructure is expected to cover 98 per cent. The process for this has already started by consolidation of more than 7,000 cell sites. This merger will take place by October 2010.
